Diary of a Week in the Vineyard
- Day One (Monday):
- 7:00am, Arose to see the sunrise over the Andes and vineyards..
 - Had a swim in the pool and then took a coffee and walked the vineyards while thinking of what today will bring.
 - Since most wineries and many restaurants are closed on Monday, went to Vista Flores to stock up on some stables, beef, fruits, chicken water (con gas and sin gas).
 - Had late breakfast of yogurt and fruit, fresh sourdough bread toasted, Patagonia elderberry jam along with another cup of coffee.
 - Read while laying on a poolside lounge.
 - Stayed in the Vineyard the rest of day with a late lunch of carne, corn and vegetable Empanadas we had in the fridge. Purchased from Tentacion in Tunuyán (best empanadas in the area).
 - Read our books a little more and had a short siesta, given all the work had done during the day.
 - Another swim both woke us up and cooled us off.
 - Had a glass of Rose (our own 100% Merlot Rose named Because) properly chilled to 8°C.
 - Started a fire in the Parrilla and one hour later prepared a fillet de lomo with a salad, all the ingredients from the garden on the property, and a glass of 2015 Epitome Malbec. Lovely dinner
 - After digesting and planning the rest of the week we cleaned up, as Rosario our cleaning lady was not due back until Wednesday, did some star gazing and retired for the evening.

Day Two (Tuesday):
- Rose at 5:45 am, make a thermos of coffee, drove to Manzano Historico stopping along the way to pick up a few medialunas. Drove to the Andes and parked the car.

- Walked for 20 minutes to a small peak, enjoyed our coffee and watch the sun continue rise and aluminate the majestic Andes. Particularly impressive this morning, Cerro Negro. Cerro Negro gets its name from its total black colour when the sun shines on it.
 - Back home for a swim and dressed to meet some friends at Iris Restaurant at alpasion for lunch.–Beetroot Carpaccio with Stracciatella. – Alpasion Salad of mixed greens, pickled pears, goat’s cheese spread, beetroot, crispy chickpeas. – House empanada served with traditional salsa. – Main Course: Patagonian Trout. with, creamy carrot and orange purée, endive, trout roe. We shared a bottle of their fantastic grand chardonnay. Most enjoyable.
 - Back to Vineyard intime for a swim and a Seista.
 -
Dinner Alfresco was home-made pizza, tomato, mushroom, green olives feta cheese and ham. Bottle of Achaval-Ferra Malbec, caught up with the news on Public Broadcasting (streamed), some star gazing and off to bed.

Day Three (Wednesday)
- Awoke at 7:00pm made a pot of coffee and cleaned the pool as the sun painted the Andes different shades of pink and purple. Morning was cool but very refreshing. Good to be alive on our Vineyard Villa Vacation.

- Left for shopping in Vista Flores around 9:00 am for supplies: First Atomo for grocery supplies and a chicken for Thursday dinner. Then to Sus Amigos for some Chorizo, pasta, tomato sauce and water con gas. Finally, to the fruit and vegetable store for eggs, avocado, garlic, raspberries, and nuts.

- Back at noon for a swim and light mango salad with Sour dough with Zuccardi olive oil and a fresh peach from our peach trees.

- Read by the pool and chilled out.

- 7:00 pm went to a dinner and a Art showing by Mariela Gonzalez, a local artist at Claroscuro. Most enjoyable.

- Back in time for Bed. Our Vacation Villa Vacation has removed the stress of living at at home.

Day Four (Thursday)
- 7:00 am went for a brisk walk around the hiking/jogging trail that follows the lagoons, and the river on the property, picked some apples for the horses. Stopped at the garden, picked some sunflowers for the house. strawberries, lettuce, leeks and eggs from the chicken coup.

- Swam, enjoyed coffee and some fresh strawberries with vanilla yogurt.

- Read by the pool as the day started to heat up, lunch al fresco with a cold Italian carpaccio soup, tuna salad and small lettuce salad. With a lovely Cabernet Franc Rose from Andaluna. Delightful lunch.

- Back to reading by the pool and facetime with the grandchildren after they got home from school.

- Dined Al fresco in the galleria enjoying the sunset with a lovely tuscan chicken, basmati rice, and fresh beans. Enjoyed a bottle of Viognier from Laureano Gomez. Treated ourselves to a Dolce Leche ice cream cone.

- Some conversation under the stars and off to bed. Does life get any better? Your Vineyard Villa Vacation is the reward for a successful career

Day Five (Friday):
- Awoke at 7:00 am, vacuumed, tested and added chemicals to the pool before Rosario arrived to make her magic with the Casa.

- Some coffee, medialunas and fruit and off to Manzano Historico to see some gauchos, sight see and checkout the Flee Market. Epitome is at 1,000m asl Manzano is at 1,700 m asl.

- Lunch at DiamAndes where our friend Santiago is executive chef. We went for the “Petite Cru” lunch and were not disappointed, solomillo de cerdo, applesauce, coleslaw del chef, manzanas y frambuesas with a bottle of their lightly oaked Chardonnay. Always a treat.

- Three hours later we bid farewell to Santiago and headed home.

- No need for dinner but a swim and short walk did the trick. No stars to watch tonight because we were too tired so to bed early. A Vineyard Villa Vacation is deffinitely good for the soul.

Day Six (Saturday):
- Up at 6:30 am took a morning swim and started to prepare the house for Sunday’s Asado (12 guest planed for the afternoon).
 - Into Vista Flores, and Tunuyán for supplies. Not much as Juan & Sylvia, two Chefs that reside across the street are catering and looking after most of the meal.
 - With the tables set, the kitchen set for the Sylvia and Juan (the Asador), time for a swim and a glass of wine to go over the plans for tomorrow.:

- Retired at 8:30 pm excited for tomorrow’s Asado. Vineyard Villa Vacation definitely a perk we have eraned.

Day 7 (Sunday):
- Awoke at 9:00am, made a pot of coffee had a swim and put some final touches of the Casa including cutting several vases of white roses. No shortage of Roses as there are 60 rose bushes at the end of some of the 115 rows of vines.
 - Sylvia and Juan arrived at 11:00 am to start preparing. The key is to get the fire going as an Asado fire is a science unto itself.

- Appetizers included empanadas, and a large charcuterie board, the actual asado included six different cuts of meat served individually when cooked to perfection: Bife de chorizo, Asado de tira, Vacío, Ojo de bife, Entraña and always served last Bief de Lomo. I cannot believe we ate all that meat.

- Side dishes of roasted vegetables: onions, potatoes, peppers, and asparagus and a tomato and onion salad balanced the smoke flavoured beef perfectly.

- Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Barnardo wines were perfect pairings.

- A flan con dulce de leche, a traditional Argentine dessert with a little Ice wine from Canada capped a perfect five-hour meal.

- Most guest arrived around 1:00 pm and the last one left at 7:00 pm.

Culture is well rooted and thriving in the Uco/Mendoza. The art, crafts, music, festivales and literature add substantially to the Vineyard experience. Enjoy!
- Good Food, Good Wine, Good Weather and Good Friends. It does not get better than that. Vineyard Villa Vacations is the epitome of a luxury vacation
